On April 5th, 2014 Reid Brown and Dwayne Cooke made a presentation at the Fundy North Fishermen’s Association Annual General Meeting in St. George, NB about their recent experience in the Netherlands. The trip was the second part of an exchange involving members of the Canadian Fisheries Research Network and European GAP2 Project. Thanks to funding from NSERC, Reid and Dwayne had an opportunity to meet and discuss emerging issues in fisheries management with Dutch fishers and scientists, board fishing vessels, and gather oysters in the Wadden Sea.

Fishermen from Fundy North were very interested by the presentation and in particular the use of pulse trawling for flounder, the inshore independent fishery versus the offshore fleet fishery, the fish auction, and how young fishermen purchase a boat and quota to enter the fishery in the Netherlands.
